Today I decided to make Hannah's own baby food. It seems like we can save some money over time by making it ourselves (or myself). And if you know Jonathan, that is music to his ears. For Hannah's dedication day, my mom got me a book called The BIG Book of Recipes for Babies, Toddlers & Children. (It is a book that you gives you exact recipes for your children's food) I thought I would give it a try and make some apple puree and carrot puree. It looked good but when I gave a couple of tastes to Hannah she made a face that no chef wants to see. It's ok...I'll keep giving it to her to try. One word of advice...make sure you buy very sweet apples. I think the ones that we bought are a little too tart for her. It is fun to make food for her and good to know that I am "beating" the baby food industry by making her food. I hope this will last a long time.
On a different note....today is Hannah's 5 month birthday!! YAY!! Hannah!!

Yum! Can I have some apple puree? Hannah is lucky to have you as a mom! I remember when my mom used to make baby food in this grinder thingamajiggy that she had. (Not food for me, my memory's not that good. It was for my younger sisters and brother.)
Last year I got a Magic Bullet blender for my birthday. I used it to make a lot of baby food for Christopher. Much easier than the grinder thingamajiggy Genelle's mom (and mine) used when we were little.
Oh yes. The money we save is insane.
Keep trying with the food! She'll get used to it.
Sweet potatoes are easy and most babies really like them. I pop them in the microwave until they get soft and just scoop it out into ice cube trays.
I'm glad I can comment again, I was having issues before :)
You should take a pic of one of the "faces" if you can :)
You are a great Mommy! Hannah is so cute and all babies make those great faces every time they taste something new! Happy Birthday Hannah.-Jan and Caroline
